As I am transitioning to Fairfield Psychology and they will have alternate documents/processes for policies please know the following is based on previous practice and may not align exactly with the policies you will be asked to acknowledge and agree to if you work with me through Fairfield Psychology.
Confidentiality
The therapy relationship is founded on trust and safety. So keeping your personal information confidential is very important to me. There are a few reasons why I would have to break this confidentiality:
- Imminent harm to yourself or others
- A child (someone 18 years old or younger) is potentially in danger
- I am served a legal subpoena to hand over casenotes\
That said, if you want copies of therapy notes on our sessions together I will get you to fill out a request for information form and will be severing out 3rd party information (anything regarding or specifying another person).
Getting In Touch
I can be reached by voice message/email through the day and by phone a half-hour before and after scheduled session time (6-6:30pm and 8:30-9pm Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10-10:30am and 1:30-1pm Saturdays). If I am not available please leave a message including your name, number, and best time to call you back.
If you need to change a same-day appointment the best way to contact me is via email.
Email messages will be responded to on the days I have appointment times (Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday). Please do not use email for confidential information as your confidentiality cannot be guaranteed over email.
If there is an emergency or an urgent matter, please contact me phone (778.400.5450). If you need immediate help please call 911 or the BC Crisis Centre at 1.800.784.2433; alternatively you can chat online (noon to 1am) at www.crisiscentrechat.ca.
Cancellation/Late Policy
24 hours or more notice must be given for cancellations or rescheduling, otherwise an $80 cancellation fee will be applied. Therapy time is valued and the time you schedule is reserved just for you and not available to others.
If you are more than 20 minutes late for our appointment with no communication regarding being late or plans to still attend, the session will be considered cancelled and $80 cancellation fee charged. The session can be rescheduled once fees have been paid.
Payment Stuff – Insufficient Funds/Late Payment
While I prefer payment before session, sometimes things come up in the process. If there is an insufficient fund cheque, a $20 fee, plus any bank fees incurred, will be charged. Should payment not happen before sessions, you will have 30 days to pay before a $15 fee per unpaid session for each month the payment remains unpaid.
Social Media (I like you, can’t friend you)
Because of the nature of a therapeutic relationship, I will not be able to accept requests to be connected to clients over social media platforms. I can’t accept friend requests or follow clients on these platforms. If you want to show me something on social media, sharing or viewing this information can be talked about in-session.
